When in a relationship one person asks for the other’s hand in marriage, we talk about a marriage proposal. The proposal is often a surprise with a ritual quality featuring the famous question “Will you marry me?”. In many cases a marriage proposal is a private event, with only the two persons involved present, but sometimes a marriage proposal is organized as a public event.
