The Ace List – Live with Vincent Perriard of ORIGYN Foundation – S03E01
For the first episode of the third season of The Ace List Live we are very honoured that watch industry veteran and web3 innovator Mr. Vincent Perriard, co-founder of Swiss ORIGYN Foundation, sits down with Ace Jewelers’ own Alon Ben Joseph.
Vincent Perriard earned his stripes in the watch industry at TechnoMarine, Concord and HYT Watches. A few years ago he had the vision to co-found a DAO that developed a technology that can authenticate luxury objects by using the ‘micro structure traceability’ of the actual object. The certificate is then minted as a NFT and stored on the blockchain.
Ace Jewelers will be the first retailer to start issuing these ORIGYN certificates of authenticity for wristwatches. Read the full press release HERE.
The founder of leading online watch magazine SJXwatches.com, Mr. Jiaxian SU, will sit down with Ace Jewelers own Mr. Alon BEN JOSEPH in this third season of The Ace List Live.
SJX has been writing about watches since 1997 for all major Singaporean daily newspapers, and started his own online publication in 2011 which grew to a global authority. For the last eleven years all of us at Ace Jewelers are great fans of SJXwatches.com as all the editors have a similar style to ours: minimalistic, very technically driven and even bit geeky 🙂
This promises to be a fun talk about watches in general, the watch industry, the differences between Asia & Europa, the independent watchmakers and SJX’ journey as collector.
Gerard Nijenbrinks is a veteran in the watch industry and he currently is an editor and a photographer at Fratello Watches. Ace Jewelers’ Alon Ben Joseph knows Gerard already for three decades. This episode of the third season of The Ace List Live promises to be a fun walk down memory lane.
Gerard has been collecting watches for a very long time. Gerard has had a wonderful watch boutique in The Hague, the Netherlands, where Alon used to shop as well, like their mutual friend Robert-Jan Broer – our guest sixth guest of Season One. And, has been a long time editor and photographer for FratelloWatches.com.
The Dutch and Australians always got along well. Both fun loving and laid back, the two cultures have many similarities. So, when Aussie Andrew McUtchen, founder of leading watch publication Time+Tide Watches, met with Ace Jewelers’ Alon Ben Joseph, they immediately hit it off. Obviously their passion for watches made them connect and chat for hours in Geneva where they hung out.
In this episode Andrew shares his journey as a publicist working in the fashion industry, why he loves watches so much and he will discuss fatherhood. Obviously Andrew & Alon will try to discover if Down Under the favorite watches are the same as in Europe.
Bernard Werk is an icon in the Dutch watch scene. He is the publisher of one of the oldest watch magazines in the Netherlands: Watching. Two decades ago Bernard interviewed the Ben Josephs for the first time and a friendship was forged afterwards.
Recently Bernard co-founded a new Dutch brand: Gyre Watch. Wristwatches made of recycled fish nets! Obviously we had to support this project immediately and we became authorized dealers of these sustainable watches.
During this episode of The Ace List Live our own Alon Ben Joseph will discuss the evolution of the watch industry the last few decades with Bernard. Not only from a media perspective, but obviously from a product point of view as well. And, why a journalist felt compelled to become a sustainable watch producer.
Last year we had the honor to sit down with Martina Etti, Head of International Sales of NOMOS Glashütte, for episode 22 of the first season. It’s available to see here: S01E22.
This season Martina will will sit down again with Ace Jewelers’ Alon Ben Joseph and for this episode she has invited her colleague Thomas Hoehnel. Thomas is the product designer for NOMOS Glashütte since 2011. He is the designer of the “Ahoi” and “Tangente Sport” timepieces, plus he is the specialist for straps, bracelets and clasps for this design German brand.
So, this is going to be a fun & technical talk about design and watches. Obviously the sixth Ace x Nomos collab will be discussed as well.
Edward Asscher, President of the World Diamond Council (WDC), joins Alon Ben Joseph of Ace Jewelers to talk everything diamonds.
It’s a great honor to welcome Edward Asscher on the show. During the first season both of Edward’s children Lita Asscher (S01E09) and Mike Asscher (S01E03) appeared on The Ace List Live. Although Edward Asscher, the fifth generation of this diamond dynasty officially retired as the President of Royal Asscher Diamond Company last year, he is definitely not taking it easy. He become the President of the World Diamond Council, for the second time!
Edward has always been a great inspiration and mentor for Alon. He knows him from his childhood as he was friends with Mike and started working with Edward in the early 2000s buying diamonds from him. During this live session Edward will educate all of us on the current state of the diamond industry. It promises to be a very interesting episode.
