The Hahn Family is very know in the jewelry industry. Since 1901, gemstones and pearls have held captive the imagination of the Hahn family for over 120 years and spanning four generations. The 20th century saw their deep involvement further impact the coloured stone, diamond, and cultured pearl sector, providing unique stones to industry legends like Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron, and many others.

In 1997 the 4th generation of Hahns, Alexandre, Lawrence and Philip, collectively hold credentials in gemmology (DGemG, GG), goldsmith artisanship, BFA and BA in photography and business management, plus other accomplishments join the Hahn company.

Like Gerhard Han, Ace Jewelers is also a family owned and run business. Ace Jewelers’ founder and father of current CEO, Alon Ben Joseph, used to do business with Alexandre’s father. So, the relationship between the firms Gerhard Hahn and Ace is warm and runs deep.

And, the passion for gemstones, diamonds and pearls runs deep in both families and during this episode Alexandre Hahn shared the current trends of these ‘Gifts of Nature’.

Everyone that knows the contemporary Italian fine jewelry brand NANIS, knows the driving & creative force behind the brand: ravishing Laura Bicego. We also know that behind every strong woman, there is a strong man. Laura’s strong man is Piero Marangon, the CEO of NANIS Jewels. The magic duo behind this luxurious and colorful brand are life partners and co-founded NANIS Jewels back in 1995.

Where Laura is responsible for the designs and the creativity of the company, she also is unmistakably the face of the company too. As they are in such a symbiotic partnership, Piero takes care of everything else within NANIS Jewels. Where creativity is very important, craftsmanship & quality are equally important when manufacturing high-end handmade jewels. And, this is Piero’s responsibility.

Ace Jewelers is a family owned and run business, like NANIS Jewels. Ace Jewelers’ founder and father of current CEO used to do business with Laura’s father. So, the relationship between NANIS and Ace is warm and runs deep. We are very humbled that Laura has come on the show twice already:

And, although both our viewers and we would love to have her back on the show. We wanted to show the magic behind the designs: the craftmanship of NANIS. Piero is very humble and does not like to take the limelight, but it took us a few seasons of arm twisting to get him on the show. He sat down with Ace Jewelers’ Alon Ben Joseph and they took a deep dive into what makes NANIS so special.

One of the most influential watch designers in the industry, Davide Cerrato, has started a new chapter in his impressive career. Today he is the CEO & Creative Director of HYT Watches. An excellent reason to have invited Davide back on the show. Last season he was our guest for the first time and it turned out to be a fun conversation with Ace Jewelers’ Alon Ben Joseph. In the previous episode we extensively discussed his evolution as watch designer. And, his successes at Panerai, Tudor and Montblanc. In this episode he shares his vision and strategy for the ultra innovative and contemporary HYT Watches. Their DNA is made up of a new fluidic module encapsulating 10 years of learnings and improvements, an evolution of the manufacture mechanical caliber developed with Eric Coudray delivering a perfect synchronization of fluidic and mechanical time.

The founder of leading online watch magazine SJXwatches.com, Mr. Jiaxian SU, sat down with Ace Jewelers own Mr. Alon BEN JOSEPH in this third season of The Ace List Live.

SJX has been writing about watches since 1997 for all major Singaporean daily newspapers, and started his own online publication in 2011 which grew to a global authority. For the last eleven years all of us at Ace Jewelers are great fans of SJXwatches.com as all the editors have a similar style to ours: minimalistic, very technically driven and even bit geeky 🙂

This turned out to be a fun talk about watches in general, the watch industry, the differences between Asia & Europa, the independent watchmakers and SJX’ journey as collector.

The Davidoff name is famous all around the world. Although we love Davidoff cigars here at Ace, this episode our esteemed guest is Roy Davidoff, also a jeweller that loves watches. Ace Jewelers’ Alon Ben Joseph childhood friends Roy & Sacha Davidoff have a long family history as jewellers as well. The brothers love watches. A few years ago they branched out of the family business and set up their own vintage watch boutique in Geneva: Roy & Sacha Davidoff SA.

In this episode Roy Davidoff shares his journey as diamantaire, jeweller and watch expert. Obviously the passion for vintage and modern watches has been discussed. The two very passionate gentlemen philosophized why pre-owned watches are so hot.

Gerard Nijenbrinks is a veteran in the watch industry and he currently is an editor and a photographer at Fratello Watches. Ace Jewelers’ Alon Ben Joseph knows Gerard already for three decades. This episode of the third season of The Ace List Live has been a fun walk down memory lane.

Gerard has been collecting watches for a very long time. Gerard has had a wonderful watch boutique in The Hague, the Netherlands, where Alon used to shop as well, like their mutual friend Robert-Jan Broer – our guest sixth guest of Season One. The Ace List – Live with Vincent Perriard of ORIGYN Foundation – S03E01

For the first episode of the third season of The Ace List Live we are very honoured that watch industry veteran and web3 innovator Mr. Vincent Perriard, co-founder of Swiss ORIGYN Foundation, sits down with Ace Jewelers’ own Alon Ben Joseph.

Vincent Perriard earned his stripes in the watch industry at TechnoMarine, Concord and HYT Watches. A few years ago he had the vision to co-found a DAO that developed a technology that can authenticate luxury objects by using the ‘micro structure traceability’ of the actual object. The certificate is then minted as a NFT and stored on the blockchain.

Ace Jewelers will be the first retailer to start issuing these ORIGYN certificates of authenticity for wristwatches. Read the full press release HERE.

Video: The Ace List S02E16 Andrew McUtchen of Time and Tide Watches

The Dutch and Australians always got along well. Both fun loving and laid back, the two cultures have many similarities. So, when Aussie Andrew McUtchen, founder of leading watch publication Time+Tide Watches, met with Ace Jewelers’ Alon Ben Joseph, they immediately hit it off. Obviously their passion for watches made them connect and chat for hours in Geneva where they hung out.

In this episode Andrew shares his journey as a publicist working in the fashion industry, why he loves watches so much and he will discuss fatherhood. Obviously Andrew & Alon will try to discover if Down Under the favorite watches are the same as in Europe.

Video: The Ace List S02E15 Bernard Werk of Gyre Watch Watching Magazine

Bernard Werk is an icon in the Dutch watch scene. He is the publisher of one of the oldest watch magazines in the Netherlands: Watching. Two decades ago Bernard interviewed the Ben Josephs for the first time and a friendship was forged afterwards.

Recently Bernard co-founded a new Dutch brand: Gyre Watch. Wristwatches made of recycled fish nets! Obviously we had to support this project immediately and we became authorized dealers of these sustainable watches.

During this episode of The Ace List Live our own Alon Ben Joseph will discuss the evolution of the watch industry the last few decades with Bernard. Not only from a media perspective, but obviously from a product point of view as well. And, why a journalist felt compelled to become a sustainable watch producer.

Last year we had the honor to sit down with Martina Etti, Head of International Sales of NOMOS Glashütte, for episode 22 of the first season. It’s available to see here: S01E22.

This season Martina will will sit down again with Ace Jewelers’ Alon Ben Joseph and for this episode she has invited her colleague Thomas Hoehnel. Thomas is the product designer for NOMOS Glashütte since 2011. He is the designer of the “Ahoi” and “Tangente Sport” timepieces, plus he is the specialist for straps, bracelets and clasps for this design German brand.

So, this is going to be a fun & technical talk about design and watches. Obviously the sixth Ace x Nomos collab will be discussed as well.
